Gamejam 2016 May (Awesomespace)

Have you always wanted to make a game, but never had the time? Try then to make a game in only 2 days,

This time we have upped the scale and are in a new location: Awesome Space (Marcopololaan 8-10). Pulling an all nighter is also possible there, however sleeping is not possible (though a powernap on the couch is fine). Awarding of prizes will be done on tuesday between 18:00 and 19:00

Participants are in principle responsible for their own food, we are close to a supermarket and multiple snackbars and pizzerias and the like. The Awesomespace itself also has a bar but only cash is accepted there. Participating costs 2 euro. We can order dinner for you but is not included in the price.

DGDARC / DGG Networking Drink 2016 Edition

We are back! The DGDARC Networking Drink 2016 is coming soon.

On June 9th, many game development companies will be joining us and showcase their games. We will be feeding you guys with snacks and drinks, while at-the-same-time you get to enjoy playing a huge variety of games. Get to know each other during this drink. If you are looking for an internship or just want to play games, this is your chance.

We managed to get an unique location for this event thanks to the Dutch Game Garden: one huge room, filled with games, drinks, snacks and people!

Summer Game Dev 2015

Ook dit jaar organiseert Dutch Game Garden weer de Summer Game Dev. Ga van 20 tot en met 24 juli met ons de uitdaging aan en maak onder begeleiding van Dutch Game Garden en enkele aansprekende coaches uit de Nederlandse game-industrie een game. Je werkt samen met studenten van andere disciplines en opleidingen, waaronder business-studenten met wie je de commerciële haalbaarheid van je game gaat bekijken.

Naast de ontwikkeling van een gameconcept en speelbaar prototype, komen ook verschillende interessante sprekers langs. Daarnaast gaan we op excursie naar een Nederlandse gamestudio, waar je een kijkje krijgt in de keuken van een bedrijf dat zijn sporen al heeft verdiend in de industrie.

Minecraft Scrum Workshop

Op dinsdag 16 juni organiseert DGDARC in de Gamehall een Scrum Workshop. Met een team ga je van 15:00 tot 23:00 werken aan een bouwproject in Minecraft, om zo te leren scrummen. Dus behalve leerzaam, is het ook gewoon hardstikke leuk. Toegang is gratis, fris en lekkers wordt beschikbaar gesteld door ons. Avondeten is op eigen kosten.

Tingly Games is looking for an ambitious game developer to work on our 2D casual HTML5 games. As development environment we use our own HTML5 game engine and framework, written in JavaScript. Also we created our own rapid application development and level design tools, written in C#. Your activities consist of the development of games and of extending the engine and tools.

We develop games in small teams, consisting of one developer, one artist, and one game designer. Together they are responsible for the complete development process, from prototype to finished game.

Fugro Intersite is looking for two keen and innovative students Game and Media Technology to start investigating and determine their own research topic. This is a Master Thesis project.

Fugro Intersite B.V. is part of Fugro N.V. (listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange, 12.000 fte) and develops and produces among other things state of the art positioning systems for maritime use both above and beneath sea level using a wide variety of techniques like satellite navigation, INS and vision. Our systems are used by oil companies and gas companies, dredging firms and construction companies. In our group (60 fte) 40 colleagues are continuously active with developing new software and hardware for our products.

Lecture Guerrilla Games: AAA game dev & applying for game dev positions

DGDARC organizes a presentation by Guerrilla Games in collaboration with game design lecturer Marries van de Hoef. Guerrilla Games is the largest AAA game development studio in the Netherlands and belongs to the worldwide top in AAA game development. Reaching this highest level of quality requires a special game development approach which is difficult to imagine if you haven’t been involved in it. In the first half of the lecture their incredibly meticulous development process is unveiled. The second half of the lecture will get you acquainted with the process of applying for a job in the game industry, focusing at the AAA industry. How does the application process work? What are important skills for academic students? What should an academic technical portfolio look like? This is essential knowledge to prepare you for applying for a game development job.

The speaker will be Angie Smets, she is the executive producer at Guerrilla Games and member of the management team. She will speak on April 8th 15:15-17:00 in the Educatorium Megaron lecture hall.

If you are considering a game development career, this is a presentation you don’t want to miss! The lecture is part of both the game design (Game-ontwerp) curriculum and the Game and Media Technology master colloquium.

GameJam

On the 15th and 16th of january 2015 we will organize a Gamejam with the theme gameception: games in games. With a group you will work a game that matches this theme for two days. One of the groups will be Abbey Games (from Reus). The gamejam will take place in the Gamehall in the Buys-Ballot building on the Uithof. We have room for about 5 groups comprising of about 5 people.
